Setting up your firm's Average Working Hours per Year is important to most accurately reflect your firm's costs.

Each country, region, and even office has different Average Working Hours per Year. Maybe your firm has a 4-day work week, maybe your firm takes extra time at the holidays, maybe you have a local holiday that you observe. No matter the reason, accurately reflecting the average number of hours worked per year by your firm will help to ascertain costs at an organization level.

You will want to add this number in Settings > Organization > Working hours per year.

How to Calculate Average Working Hours per Year

The math is not as simple as 52 weeks multiplied by 40 hours. This number varies as the number of workdays per year will vary, based on when holidays and weekends will fall, amount of paid time off etc. The calendar repeats itself every 28 years. By using the average working hours over that 28 year period, you can reasonably accommodate for the year-to-year fluctuations that occur.

Many countries will have a standard working hours per year defined by their government. Many accountants will also be familiar with this number. We recommend trying to find this information specific to your country or calculating this yourself to complete this field in Monograph.
