What is the Revenue Report?

The Revenue Report pulls insights from your project budgets, hour allocations, hours logged, and issued invoices to give you a forecast of your revenue in addition to a historical view.

Navigating to the Revenue Report

To access the Revenue Report, navigate to Analytics in the Menu Bar on the left-hand side of the screen and then click on Revenue below Projects.

Different Parts of the Revenue Report

Summary Statistics - the large numbers at the top of the page indicate important summary statistics based on the filters we apply at the top of the page.

  • Projects - This will tell you the total number of Projects in the selected date range. The percentage right below will let you know the percentage shown of all of your projects, both Active and Archived

  • Fee (Planned) - This will show us the amount that is entered into the Project Budget across the projects in the timeframe selected. Underneath, you'll see the number of planned hours pulled from the Project Budget.

    • This total comes from total Phase budgets/max caps rather than a Project's Service Fees.

  • Fee (Logged) - This will show you the amount of fee that has been logged over the selected timeframe. Underneath, you'll see how many hours have been logged and the percentage of those hours that are billable. Note: This percentage rounds up or down from what is displayed in the Organization Time Log.

  • Fee (Issued) - This will show you the total of Services (Fixed or Hourly) within Open, Paid, and Past Due Invoices. Draft invoices are not included. Underneath, you'll also see how many invoices were issue during this timeframe.

Bar Line Graph - the colorful bar line graph is a visual representation of your work across the selected timeframe. This will be grouped by day, month, or year based on the length of your selected timeframe. Underneath the graphs is a key.

  • Planned amounts - come from the Project Budget, shown in a lighter opacity.

  • Logged amounts - come from time logged in Timesheets, shown as a diagonal hatch.

  • Issued amounts - come from Invoices, shown in a darker opacity.

Single Project Highlight - hovering over the colored segment of a project will highlight it throughout the chart and give you the sum of its fee and hours for that period.

Date Amount - hovering over the date will display the total planned, logged, and invoiced hours and fees for that day, month, or year.

Per Project Forecast Breakdown

Beneath the bar line graph, you'll see a by-project breakdown based on your selected timeframe and filtering criteria. Clicking on a Project's Name will open that project's Specific Overview Page.

For each project, we highlight the following: status (proposed, active, paused, canceled, completed), whether it's billable or not, the Fee (Planned), the Fee (Logged), and the Fee (Issued).

Additional columns showing information related to Square Footage and Construction Costs can be added by clicking on the icon in the right corner above the charge and then selecting the columns that should be shown within the report.

🚨 If a project has a planned fee but no planned hours, it means that no hours were allocated to your team for that project or phase despite it having a budget. To fix this, you'll need to go back into that project and edit the allocations.

Planned fees and planned hours are derived from the hours entered in the Project Budget. Logged fees and logged hours are derived from the hours logged in Timesheets.

Where Does the Information Come From?

All of the Project information you see on the screen comes directly from the Project Budget. If the information in the Project Budget is incomplete or inaccurate then your reports will be inaccurate.

For Project information to be included in this report, it must have the following:

  • Start & End Date

  • At Least One Phase

  • Phase Budgets (Budget if Fixed Phase or Max Cap if Hourly Phase) or Hours Allocated

For Invoice information to be included in this report, invoices must be issued (ie. Open, Paid, or Past Due).

🚨 Amounts reflected in this report do not pull in Consultants, Expenses, Retainers, or Other Items.
