The Invoice Overview allows you to quickly review invoice performance across a specific date range so you can make decisions that help you get paid faster.

How does it help track day-to-day activities?

  • See how much has been invoiced by a particular point in the month

  • Understand how effectively you’re collecting on invoices

How does it help forecast future performance?

  • Identify trends and patterns in your invoice performance

  • See how much you invoice month-to-month as a reliable cash flow metric

  • Understand your “average days to paid” so that you can more accurately forecast cash flow

  • Use insights to improve invoice performance over time

  • Compare invoice performance between categories and clients to make more informed BD decisions


🚨 Only users with permissions that include the ability to "View invoices" are able to access the Invoice Overview.


Invoice Overview

The Invoice Overview provides a high-level view of your total invoices within a specified date range. Here, you can see how many of those invoices are Paid, Open, or Past due.

The filters at the top of the page give you the flexibility to choose the date range for the invoices that should be shown, as well as narrow them down to specific clients, projects, or categories.

If your invoice Overview shows "No data" and none of your invoices are appearing, click on "Clear filters". If that does not show the data, please clear your cached data for app.monograph.com.

Top Graph

The top graph shows both a numerical and visual comparison of all invoices that are Paid (green), Open (yellow), and Past Due (red) within the specified date range and based on any filters applied. In addition to seeing these totals, you'll also see what has been invoiced year-to-date, payments received year-to-date, and the average days to payment.


💡 Average days to payment is the average number of days between the issue date and payment date for all invoices issued since January 1 of the current year.


Hovering over the top graph will a breakdown of what makes up the totals of all Paid, Open, and Past Due invoices. This includes Service Fees, Consultant Services, Expenses, retainers, and any Other Items.

Click on the "View all invoices" link while hovering over Paid (green), Open (yellow), or Past Due (red) to open the Invoice Index showing each of the individual invoices that are included in each group.

Bottom Graph

The bottom graph shows a visual comparison of all invoices that are Paid, Open, and Past Due broken down by month within the specified date range and based on any filters applied.

Hovering over the bottom graph will show a numerical breakdown of the total Paid, Open, and Past Due invoices month-by-month.

Click on the "View all invoices" link while hovering over a specific month to open the Invoice Index showing each of the individual invoices that are included in each group.


FAQs

What invoices are included in the report?

Only invoices that have been marked as Open or Paid are included. Draft invoices are not included.

What date does the date range use?

The date range is based on “Issue Date” of the invoice.

What is "Average Days to Payment"?

Average days to payment is the average number of days between the issue date and payment date for all invoices issued since January 1 of the current year.

What’s included in “Payments year-to-date”?

The total of “Paid” invoices. These are invoices that have been paid through Stripe via Monograph or have been marked as Paid manually. Partially paid invoices are also included for the portion that was paid.

How far back can my organization go in the Invoice Overview?

The Invoice overview allows date selection starting from one year before the subscription date. For example, if your subscription began on May 1, 2015, dates prior to May 1, 2014 will not be available.
