Your firm likely has a series of employee benefits or situations where time is logged to a non-billable event, meaning that you will not be invoicing a client for this time.

Common examples include:

  • Marketing

  • Business Development

  • Lunch and Learn

  • Licensure Training

Within Monograph you'll adjust these Overhead Categories to reflect your company and allow your employees to record their non-productive time (leaves) and expenses (allowances).

🚨 When Time Off is enabled for your team, then any Overhead Categories that have been associated with Time Off Policies will no longer be entered as Overhead in Timesheets and will instead need to be submitted as Time Off requests. This becomes effective on the start date of the policy.

Creating Overhead Categories

First, click on Settings gear icon on the bottom of the main menu bar, next to your initials or profile picture. Then click Settings, which will pull up a sub-menu, and then App Defaults.

From there, scroll down to Overhead List. Click on + New Overhead and a new window will appear.

πŸ’‘ Depending on your industry, the default Overhead categories used in Monograph may vary.

Enter a name for the new Overhead category and select if hours logged using this Overhead should be considered Available or Non-available. Click Create once complete.

πŸŽ“ Overhead categories that are marked as Non-available will be omitted from the Team Utilization calculations within the Team Forecast.
